Spring Baseball may not have wrapped up for everyone yet, but there are only 3 weeks left to sign up for Fall Baseball! 

If your child is playing another sport in the fall and you want to keep them swinging and ready for next Spring, let us know.

If you simply have not gotten around to signing your child up, do so today before it's too late! Travel signup ends 8/2, and League Rosters are due on 8/10.  IB and Tball registration ends August 9th.

Mountville Baseball is open exclusively to children who live in Hempfield School District.  Any child residing in the district is eligible to participate.

Your next communication will be from your head coach near the middle of August.  Practices typically start around that time.

Support the Hempfield basketball teams by signing up for their golf tournament scheduled for Friday, August 7, at Crossgates Golf Course. The event begins at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start. I hope everyone is staying safe, healthy, and cool despite this summer heat!

As we continue enjoying summer, I wanted to share a few ideas to help prepare your child for a successful school year while also highlighting employment opportunities available throughout Hempfield School District.

Helping Your Child Prepare for School Success

The everyday moments we spend with our children have an incredible impact on future learning and development. Here are a few simple ways to build confidence and readiness for the upcoming school year:

• Read together every evening. Share a favorite story or read a chapter before bedtime. If your child is eager for more, keep reading!
• Let your child see you reading. Modeling a love of reading is one of the greatest gifts you can give.
• Talk about what you read. Discuss the characters, setting, problem, solution, and ask questions like, "What would you have done?" or "How would you change the ending?"
• Encourage writing. Keep a family journal, make grocery or to-do lists together, or invite your child to draw pictures and tell stories if they are not yet writing independently.
• Play games often. Games teach valuable life skills such as taking turns, following directions, handling disappointment, and celebrating others' successes with good sportsmanship.
• Make math part of everyday life. Count objects, compare quantities, recognize patterns, play number games, and look for opportunities to build number sense in fun ways.
• Establish consistent routines. Regular times for meals, baths, bedtime, and other daily activities help children transition more smoothly into the structure of the school day.
• Build responsibility. Give your child small daily jobs, such as picking up toys, making their bed, or helping clean up. These routines promote independence and prepare children for classroom expectations.
• Model honesty, responsibility, and humility. Let your child see that everyone makes mistakes and that taking responsibility, learning from them, and trying again are signs of strength.
• Lead with kindness. Offer praise, encouragement, and compliments publicly whenever possible. When correction is needed, have those conversations privately with patience and care.
• Teach respect and boundaries. Help your child understand that some conversations and decisions belong to adults, some belong to children, and some belong to everyone. Respect is demonstrated through our words, actions, and interactions.
• Laugh, smile, explore, and enjoy time together. Encourage your child to look for the positive in challenges and ask, "What can I learn from this?" when things don't go as planned.
• Each day, try to do something for your mind, your body, your family, and your creativity. Small, consistent experiences help children grow in every area of life.

Looking Ahead to Next School Year

Returning LPC students will notice some exciting changes when they come back! Our building renovation project continues, and some classrooms will temporarily move as contractors complete work throughout different wings of the school.

Helping your child practice flexibility this summer can make these transitions much easier. Occasionally changing routines, trying something new, or talking through how plans sometimes change helps children develop resilience and adaptability—skills that will serve them well throughout the upcoming school year and beyond.

All elementary HSD students are invited to visit the new Black Knight Bookmobile this summer! Thanks to a grant from the Hempfield Foundation, students can receive a new book, enjoy storytime, and spend time with friends.

Are you looking for a meaningful way to make a difference in our schools? The Landisville PTO is seeking enthusiastic parents and guardians to join the Board for the upcoming school year! We currently have openings for the Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary positions. Whether you're a natural organizer, enjoy working with numbers, or simply want to become more involved in your child's school experience, we'd love to welcome you to our team. 

Serving on the PTO Board is a rewarding opportunity to:
•    Help plan events and initiatives that enrich the school experience for our students and staff.
•    Build relationships with other families, teachers, and school administrators.
•    Have a voice in shaping PTO programs and priorities.
•    Make a lasting impact on our school community.

You don't need previous experience, just a willingness to collaborate and a desire to support our students. Current board members are committed to helping new volunteers transition into their roles, and responsibilities are shared across a supportive team.

Open Positions:
Vice President
•    Supports the President and steps in when the President is unavailable.
•    Assists with planning and leadership throughout the year.
•    Plans and executes Fun Fest. 

Treasurer
•    Manages the PTO's finances, including deposits, payments, and financial reports.
•    Helps develop and monitor the annual budget.
•    Works closely with the PTO Board to ensure responsible stewardship of PTO funds.

Secretary
•    Records meeting minutes and maintains official PTO records.
•    Manages correspondence and meeting communications.
•    Helps keep members informed and organized throughout the year.

The Landisville PTO plays an important role in creating memorable experiences for our students through programs and events like the Fit Walk, Book Fairs, Holiday Shoppe, Staff Appreciation, VIP Dances, Fun Fest, and much more. Our board helps make these opportunities possible.

If you've ever thought about getting more involved, this is the perfect time! Elections will be held in September; we'd love to answer your questions and help you find the role that's right for you.
